Sessions: Outline

This year the Youth Sunday pack takes the form of four sessions to be run in the lead-up to Youth Sunday. This gives plenty of time, over a series of evenings, to learn new things, have fun together, and go deeper with God.

Session 1: Change
How do we feel about change, and how can we be more open to God changing us?

Session 2: Gather
What is the Church? Why can’t I just pray in my bedroom? What does it mean to be the Body of Christ?

Session 3: Engage
What is the Mass all about? How can I get more involved?

Session 4: Explore
Going deeper into the Mass and planning for Christ the King.

Each of the sessions has a combination of silly games, activities, discussion and prayer. They use movie clips, art projects, competitive games and up-beat activities to keep the pace going, along with prayer suggestions to enable your young people to open themselves to God. They are designed to build up the faith of your group as you go through the weeks.

Because we know that youth leaders are really busy people, each session plan has an overview, equipment list, and step-by-step instructions on running the evening. There are also links to the newly issued youth catechism YOUCAT, which is a fantastic resource for young people and youth leaders alike.

If you don’t want to run all four sessions, you could just run sessions three and four, or even session four as a stand-alone. To help with planning the Christ the King Mass, there is a planning sheet and lots of links to make things easier. We have a good selection of music approved for the new translation too.
