How to get started

Right now you may be thinking “I want to give this a go, but I’m not sure what to do next”. First of all, it’s really important that you go and see your parish priest, and get him involved in your plans. This is not only because your priest can really promote the sessions in the parish, but also because he is your on-site expert on the liturgy, able to answer any tricky questions that may come up, and his passion for the Eucharist will be really inspiring to the young people in your group.

Most importantly, it’s vital that whoever will be the presider (priest) at the Christ the King Mass comes along to session 4, the planning session, so that he can work with the young people to come up with a plan for the Mass that will work for the whole community. You will also need to chat to your parish safeguarding rep before you start to get volunteers. If you don’t have a CRB you will need one. Talk to your rep to find out what he/she recommends.

You can download a planning sheet from this page which sets out all the steps from starting out to evaluating your programme afterwards. It has spaces for dates so that you can customize it for your particular situation.
