National Youth Sunday > NYS 2010 > Reflections

Here are some ideas, based on the Sacred Scriptures that might help with school or college assemblies or Daily Reflections in the parish or home.
Jeremiah is young, probably still in his mid teens when God calls him to be a prophet to Israel.
Jeremiah is hesitant and shy.
How many young people feel that they have not lived long enough to be of any use to God?
For those who have given any thought to the idea that God has a plan for them, that they are being called by God, how many think they are too young?
How many think they lack the confidence or the talents to be of any use?

David is the youngest of his family, having seven brothers.
The prophet Samuel must learn to look at each not with his eyes but with his heart, for God says: “man looks at appearances but God looks at the heart.”
The heart of God speaks to our hearts.
Are we open to the voice of God speaking to us? Why would we not be?
David is very young when anointed by Samuel.
Why would God call such a young person as David to such a big responsibility?
