National Youth Sunday > Getting young people along > Getting the word out
If you have an existing youth group, all you’ll need to do is schedule the dates and talk to your group about what you’ll be doing.
If you have no group currently, or want to use these resources to target a different age group (eg post-confirmation, older teens, etc) then you’ll need to do a bit more by way of promotion.
We’ve provided print-off posters for you to put up in church and school, but these are really the beginning of your campaign. Young people are often not used to seeing activities for them on parish bulletin-boards or in the newsletter, so they don’t really look at them. The posters are there as much for the parents (who will be providing transport) as for the young people.
Just as with parish volunteers, the best way to get young people along is to ask them personally. And even more effective is when another young person asks them to come. If you have young leaders, getting them to speak at Mass is a brilliant way to get the word around.
For any new group – plan for a few, and pray for many!
